Clearweld Coatings

Gentex has developed a series of materials capable of powerful absorption in the near-infrared spectrum, while remaining virtually colorless. Clearweld incorporates these absorbers in unique coatings which are applied at the joint to be laser welded.

The optimal formulation for a particular plastic laser welding application is determined by taking into account plastic substrate materials, part design and process requirements. Offered directly to end users, the Clearweld coatings are tested and certified for use with specific dispensing systems. Gentex provides coatings, certified coating application equipment and implementation support, either directly or through supply-chain partners.
